The long blade straight bit without a bearing (1/2 x 1/2 x 1-1/2) is great for mortising or edge trimming with a router guide and template, while the long blade straight router bit (1/2 x 3/8 x 1-1/2) with a bearing will trim laminate or any surface you wish to make flush with an adjoining surface.
